What better way of testing the fundraiser experience for one of our charity clients than to do some fundraising ourselves! I stepped up to take on the Battersea 10k in support of our friends at CW+, the charity arm of the Chelsea & Westminster Hospital Trust.
We love working with charities on their marketing, websites and branding, but getting out and raising some cash for them is even better. Over the years we’ve done all kinds of challenges to help raise funds for good causes, so when the fundraising team at CW+ asked if anyone fancied taking on a challenge, I couldn’t say no. We recently helped the charity to redevelop their website, and doing the run also gave me a chance to experience the fundraising experience with them first-hand.
Despite having run the Berlin Marathon in 2018, and completing a number of half marathons, I’m not much of a runner. So when I agreed to do the Battersea 10k, I knew some training would be needed!
The support from the CW+ fundraising team was fantastic, with lots of tips on how to approach fundraising, and get the best out of training. When you undertake some fundraising for an organisation, you want to feel like you’re in partnership, working together to help support a worthy cause. When it’s done well, the support that a charity gives you can really help to create a strong relationship, which often results in repeat fundraising.

Luckily, the run went well, despite a few beers the day before at the Lazydays festival that our senior designer, Elliott, organises! It was a bright, sunny day, with a great crowd, and I crossed the line in just over 55 minutes. But the most important part is that we managed to raise over £750 for CW+ and their fantastic work in patient healthcare. I’ve heard a rumour that our creative director, Pete, fancies the abseil challenge next!
Thanks to all of my friends, family, clients and network that sponsored me.
Thank you for your support of CW+ and for smashing the Battersea Park 10k. The money you raised has gone to support our Thirty at Thirty Campaign, and we could not be more grateful.” — Rhian Stanton, Fundraising Officer, CW+
